Hawaii's Kīlauea volcano eruption sent lava 1,000 feet into the air and forced officials to close parts of the national park.

A man is dead after officials found him in a closed area near one of the Earth’s most active volcanoes. According to the National Park Service, the 33-year-old Hawaiʻi resident was airlifted from Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park on Feb. 27. He was transported to Hilo Benioff Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
